The sourcebooks are a little inconsistent when it comes to the operation of the stormtroopers weapons.
a) No stormtrooper is ever shown in the movies with a blaster pistol, yet nearly every source locations lists it. I suspect this has something to do with the the scene in Ep IV where Luke and Han, masquerading as stormtroopers have one big gun between them and both have hip-holstered blasters. However these hip-holstered weapons have since been identified as blaster rifles, so the big gun must have been some sort of repeating weapon. (not born out by the fact that Chewie uses it for single shots, but maybe its some sort of sniper rifle) I suspect in 1st E. WEG felt the rifle was a rifle and the hip mounted weapon was a pistol, but somewhere along the line (perhaps when they went away from the multiplicative damage calculations) Stormtroopers needed a weapon that would consistently deal the right amount of damage to players
b) Multiple sources refer to the BlasTech E-11 as the original (and primary) weapon that stormtroopers carry, but the Stormtrooper One is a Sorosuub knockoff (game-wise they're functionally identical)
c) Multiple sources list the roll on the back of stormtrooper armor as a thermal detonator. I can't find the resource right now. of course a 2000 credit piece of hardware is gamebreaking when it comes to game mechanics if players can buy their own ship just by offing a dozen stormtroopers.
d) The effect of the shoulder stock is listed differently in several places. the shoulder stock/sight are sometimes listed as requiring 1 round to get the added +1D bonus (above the +1D for a preparation round) other sites just listed it as +1D for using the stock. For my money stormtroopers really need the +1D bonus just for using the stock, but there are no encumbrance rules which would cause you to ever NOT use the stock. So I don't know what the answer is.

I screwed with the formatting just a hair--the real problem is that WEG used about 10 formats for character sheets, even the NPCs. I also elected to include the stats for a stormtrooper blaster rifle since I figured it would be nice for someone to just have to look one place to get all the information required to run a stormtrooper, (like weapon range, shot capacity and the sight/stock) rather than click multiple links.--TheRiov 15:33, 5 October 2011 (EDT)
