Scaling

From Episode D6: Star Wars D6 Wiki

During the creation process I was forced to alter the Standard scale to make it more balanced. Historically, some firearms were specifically designed to be anti-vehicle in purpose. The .50 BMG round is a common round that is basically a scaled up .30-06 Springfield round. And for this reason some ammunition does a higher scale of damage.

Adjusted Scale

Scale => Character Speeder Walker Starfighter Capital Death Star
Character 1/1 1/3 1/9 1/27 1/81 1/792
Speeder 3/1 1/1 1/3 1/9 1/27 1/243
Walker 9/1 3/1 1/1 1/3 1/9 1/81
Starfighter 27/1 9/1 3/1 1/1 1/3 1/27
Capital 81/1 27/1 9/1 3/1 1/1 1/9
Death Star 792/1 81/1 27/1 9/1 3/1 1/1

Scale => Character Speeder Walker Starfighter Capital Death Star
Character 100% 33% 11% 3.7% 1.23% 0.126%
Speeder 300% 100% 33% 11% 3.7% 0.411%
Walker 900% 300% 100% 33% 11% 1.23%
Starfighter 2,700% 900% 300% 100% 33% 3.7%
Capital 8,100% 2,700% 900% 300% 100% 11%
Death Star 79,200% 8.100% 2,700% 900% 300% 100%

Examples:

  • Shooting at Higher Scale: If someone is shooting a .308 Winchester Rifle, 6D character scale damage, at a speeder scale object, the damage is at 33% or 1/3 (one third), which will do 2D damage (6D / 3 = 2D final).
  • Shooting at Lower Scale: If someone is shooting a 12.7x108mm rifle, 7D speeder scale damage, at a character scale object, the damage is at 300% or 3/1 (three times), which will do 23D damage (7D x 3 = 21D final).
  • Multiple Scale Difference: When shooting at a target that is multiple scales in difference please adjust the damage up or down accordingly.
  • Attacking Lager and Smaller Scales: I strongly encourage GM's to impose a to hit penalty when shooting at smaller scale targets and a to hit bonus when shooting at larger scale targets.
