  • Ruan is one of 18 worlds owned and managed by the Salliche Agricultural Corporation. Salliche Ag is a major foodstuffs supplier to the Core and Colonies region, and is under the administration of House Harbright.
What Salliche Ag doesn't bring up is its troubled past. The conglomerate was once a staunch Imperial ally, using slave labor, indentured servitude, and other shady practices to gain cheap workers and very high efficiency ratings. Droids weren't used in order for Salliche to boast that they provided "handpicked" foods only.
Ruan is a typical example of a Salliche Ag farm world. The entire planet is climate-controlled, with a precise axial tilt and long day to allow for a year-round growing season. A complex sewer/runoff system is in place to handle the occasional floods from the rain that can be called down at any time. Ruan is currently home to several million Core-bound refugees that Salliche is approaching with job offers. However, like most of their business, their apparent generosity has a dark side - they are planning to phase out all inorganic machinery in order to have Ruan as a gift for the Yuuzhan Vong when the penetrate the Core.
