Omwat Capital City Track

From Episode D6: Star Wars D6 Wiki

Professional competition swoop track, Capital City, Omwat. (Walrus; ongoing Campaign Feel free to use this in your game/campaign as desired. )
The second incarnation of the culture's first competition Swoop track after re-joining the galaxy.

Description:-
The track starts with a large open area littered with pairs of beacon-lights, once activated, riders are directed to one of 3 trails through the area in random or alternating fashion, these trails weave across each other, necessitating some level of awareness or caution about who is crossing what trail.
This is known as the "Alternating Slalom" or "The Plait"

Following "The Plait" all trails feed into a single track, which has peeling off trails too the left. The sooner you peel off the shorter your track but the more difficult the challenge. These trails lead to long steady ramps, launching over 'washout pits'. There are 5 possible trails and levels of difficulty here.
This is called "Long Jump".

The Long Jump comes back together into a single track again, leading into a series of arcing and curving over and underpasses, they lead around in curves and circles. It is easy to end up going in endless loops here.
This is called "Clover Leaf Chaos".

In a masterful piece of engineering, a slaloming track, with jumps at each corner, resulting in fiendish technical difficulty.
This is called "The Slalom Jumps"

The Slalom jumps finish arcing onto a nice long straightaway for riders to both show off the speed of their vehicles, and gain momentum for the next challenge. It also provides a lot of spectator space where fans can and do cheer and barrack loudly.
This is called "Straightaway 1".

Coming out of the first Straightaway, riders need to achieve a particular speed or risk death in the next section. The track enters a large carved tunnel through a mountainside. The angle of entry, and the camber of the track allow a skilled rider to guide their vehicle in several barrel roll type maneuvers all the way down the tunnel, coming out the other end, hopefully unscathed.
This is called "The Barrelroll".

Swinging out of the Barrelroll cavern, racers are emptied into another straightway, in preparation for another dangerous feature.
This is called "Straightaway 2".

Every newton of velocity is required for the next section, the track is guided into a series of three tightening loops, without enough speed, riders will fall from the top of the loops, this part of the track is very hard on the swoops themselves, as it puts a lot of pressure on the repulsor engines to fight the centripidal force holding them too the track.
This is called "Loop de Loop".

Survivors of the Loop de Loop end up having to choose one of 4 trails, each giving a more difficult challenge of jumps through hoops. The most difficult gives the shortest route.
This is called "Needles".

The track closes on another straightaway, this includes the pits and fuel stop. Essential due to the length of the track.
This is called "Pits straight".

Mechanics:-
The Plait:-
Difficulty Modifier:- +2 per racer on track
Failure:- Racers who fail are forced to pull off the track to avoid crashes, or they fail to follow the flagged track and are disqualified.
Complications:- Possibilities include, Engine flameout, racer interaction (crash), after first lap, fuel out.

The Long Jump:-
Difficulty Modifier:- +25/+20/+15/+10/+5 depending on trail choice. if successfully passing one of the trail, add 10 plus the difficulty modifier too the section score total.
Failure:- Racers who fail at this point are unlikely to do themselves much harm. They will however washout of the race.
Complications:- Engine Failure, Fuel out after 1st lap?, pick unwanted trail choice accidentally.

Cloverleaf Chaos:-
Difficulty Modifier:- +25
Failure:- Wash out (rider gets lost and keeps circling), Crash, rider overshoots a corner and may fall to a nasty crash or hit a wall.
Complications:- Engine failure/flameout, After 1st lap out of fuel, exit confusion (roll perception and apply that as penalty to post calculated residual.

The Slalom Jumps:-
Difficulty Modifier:- +35
Failure:- Crash or washout (GM discression).
Complications:- Engine failure/flameout, after 1st lap out of fuel, Steering wear (-1D to maneuverability till fixed)

Straightaway 1:-
Difficulty Modifier:- 0/+15 (15 difficulty addition required to have speed for next segment.)
Failure:- Crash, Engine failure.
Complications:- Engine Flameout, after 1st lap - out of fuel

The Barrelroll:-
Difficulty Modifier:- +15
Failure:- Lost control of swoop - crash.
Complications:- After 1st lap - out of fuel, Engine flameout, loose track (50+ swoop op roll to recover)

Straightaway 2:-
Difficulty Modifier:- 0/+25 (25 difficulty addition required to have speed for next segment.)
Failure:- Crash, Engine failure.
Complications:- Engine Flameout, after 1st lap - out of fuel

Loop de Loop:-
Difficulty Modifier:- +35
Failure:- Crash, Engine failure/stall (crash).
Complications:- after 1st lap - out of fuel, Swoop damage - -1D to maneuverability till fixed, swoop damage (fuel leak - next complication out of fuel and fuel system repairs needed.

The Needles:-
Difficulty Modifier:- +30/+20/+10/+5 depending on trail choice. if successfully passing one of the trail, add 10 plus the difficulty modifier too the section score total.
Failure:- Racers who fail at this point are likely to do themselves much harm. A crash during tricky jumps like this could be fatal, a 40+ swoop op roll will be required to keep from a fireball crash.
Complications:- Engine Failure/flameout, Fuel out after 1st lap?, pick unwanted trail choice accidentally.

Pits Straight:-
Difficulty Modifier:- 0
Failure:- Crash or out of race.
Complications:- Engine Failure/flameout, Fuel out.

Pits
Fuel or repair on other sections 10 to get to pits then pit skill roll to reduce penalty
Fuel up, 20-pit roll
Repair 50-pit roll
Pit die code, up to 5D
