Khoonda City Track
Khoonda "City" track
Khoonda on Dantooine is a farming and trading community, they have a history of self governing, but in recent times come under the Dantooine planetary governance. This history gives the people of the area a feirce, if over-expanded pride and view of their community. What might be described as a town by most, Khoondites however, see their home as a city and political force to be reconed with.
The city is picturesque and the beginnings of tourism have begun. This is being boosted by the swoop track that they have created to ensure that they have such sporting facilities. Many farmers children have hobbies of modifying speeder bikes and swoop bikes, resulting in a loyal and proud following for their local swoop team. The beginning of the track being in the centre of town has generated some controvercy in the community, while everyone is happy to have league racing events there, the practice sessions are far more often and less regular, and being a great deal of noise into the centre of the city. But anyone outside the community who questions this will meet a unified front of support for the track.
Description:- The track starts in Central Town. It first winds through market districts, the corners are fairly tight, and the chances of pedestrians are high (though locals know to keep away from the track zone) Events have the track marked and pedestrians are kept off the track. Still, the tight avenues and corners mean riders cannot go to fast. This has become known as Market Street section
After Market Street, the track arcs through a more gentle and wide streets, giving some of the local residents front row views. In Events with out of towners, locals have been known to throw things (rotten fruit, waste water) at out of town racers. This has been called Cabbage Pass
After Cabbage pass riders come to what is known as Outpost Loop, The track has racers coming over a hill, leaping from where it is cut away into the flat section used by the outpost, racers skirt the clearing, exiting through the freight road. When it is not an official event, there is often freight traffic on this road, both repulsor and ground vehicle.
The road out of the outpost has a turn off that leads to a disused local quarry. An excellent section for passing etc. About half of this section may have traffic when it is not an official event. Traffic after the quarry turn-off is very rare. Known as Quarry Road
Quarry Road of course leads to The Quarry, this area is great for showing off skills, but quite unforgiving to accidents. Racers have to weave around bolders and dropoffs, getting to the top of one side, before jumping the quarry to the exit on the other side.
The quarry feeds into a challenge known as The Lava Tube. It is recommended that riders take advantage of the loop marked around a steep hill between the Quarry and the Lava Tube to build up speed. The tube enters what was at one time a volcanic mountain, the first Half of the tube is more like a 'half pipe' giving opportunities for stunts and passing, but riders are going to want to keep their speed up, in the later section, the pipe is enclosed, and in fact partially collapsed, necessitating riders barrel roll the tube to get through.
Exiting the tube riders have some plains to traverse, known as The Kinrath's Kiss their target is a large tree, around which they loop before they head back toward town. Though this might sound simple, the plains have lots of long grass, dependant on season, this grass may be so high they cannot properly see the tree, their may be masses of grass seed in the air, presenting a threat of it's own. Regardless of the height of the grass however, there is always the chance of stumbling across one or more Kinrath. The racers then speed through more of these fields and straight down main street into the town square and the next lap or finish line.
