Description: The predecessor to the standard Nial was a slightly faster and less durable version that used adequate weaponry, but was quickly forgotten about after the newer model proved to be so successful. After years of being delegated to only short trips and colony patrolling, the Shial was mothballed a hundred thousand times over. It was the Anla’shok who then demanded access to the assets instead of simply shutting them away. The Warrior Caste could not care less about the old fighters, so it was granted to them – and they have made very good use of them ever since.
The Shial is more than a match for most other fighters of its class, and with some adjustments the Rangers have made to their already potent ECM generators they could even be considered superior in some ways to the Nial. Lacking the same firepower but hard to find electronically, the Shial makes a perfect scout or reconnaissance fighter; which is one of the main goals of the Rangers as a whole.
