[edit]Outpost 17 was a remote station that was established by the New Republic, in the Unknown Region.
History
[edit]Outpost 17 was constructed in orbit of the planet Durace, to allow scientists to study the world's weather and topographical phenomena from a safe distance. It also served another purpose, as a supply port for scouts who were working in the Unknown Region.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the outpost was destroyed and a number of legends spread regarding what had happened to the facility's remains. The stories claimed that the outpost had crashed onto Durace, and that it contained a valuable treasure. Some of the tales claimed that the treasure was a valuable ore, while in others, it was said to be the lightsaber of Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker.
