'''Overview'''
Named in honor of Jack O'Neill of the Tau'ri, O'Neill-class ships dwarfed the Prometheus and Ha'tak vessels in both size and firepower. These vessels carried the most advanced weapons created by the Asgard (excluding their plasma beam weapons). The O'Neill-class replaced the Bilskirnir-class as the Asgard vessel of choice when engaging hostile forces. These vessels were powered by an unknown number of neutrino-ion generators, and possessed fifteen Asgard transporters. The Asgard were constructing an entire fleet of these ships to replace their Bilskirnir-class vessels, and already had several O'Neill-class ships constructed by the time of the Ori crusade. The O'Neill-class shared the same aesthetics as other Asgard spaceships, with smooth, curving lines and parallel sets of projections. Overall these ships were similar in appearance to the Bilskirnir-class, except with a curved, bulging "head" design for the bow instead of the "hammer" design featured on the Bilskirnir-class. The rear of these ships house two engines with visibly glowing thrusters, also similar to the Bilskirnir-class.

O'Neill-class ships were very maneuverable, as witnessed during the Battle of P3Y-229. During the battle, the participating O'Neill-class vessel was seen making sharp turns at high speeds and engaging in dog fighting-style tactics, despite its massive size, which, in part, allowed it to last far longer than the other vessels of the allied fleet. During the battle, the participating O'Neill-class vessel was seen making sharp turns at high speeds and engaging in dog fighting-style tactics, despite its massive size, which, in part, allowed it to fare far better than the other vessels of the allied fleet, and it was the only vessel that wasn't confirmed crippled or destroyed in the battle, this is due to its massive superiority over the Ha'taks and 304's. (SG1: "Camelot")
O'Neill-class vessels, incorporating the most advanced technologies the Asgard possess, were among the most powerful ships in the known universe. Only Ori motherships, designed and built with ascended knowledge, were proven to be a match for them. Even then, the only time an Ori mothership bested an O'Neill-class vessel, it had the advantage of numerical superiority (4 to 1), and it is unknown if the O'Neill-class ship was actually destroyed. (SG1: "Small Victories", "Camelot")

(SG1: "Small Victories", "Camelot")
The hyperdrives on the O'Neill-class were far superior to those installed on the outdated Bilskirnir-class, and quite possibly the fastest hyperdrives ever constructed. These hyperdrives proved capable of traveling between the Ida and Milky Way galaxies in only a few hours, and towed the Prometheus back into Earth's orbit across 1200 light-years in mere seconds. The Prometheus was later towed to the Ida galaxy in less than a day (much slower than if the Asgard ship was traveling alone but far faster than what any other known vessel apart from a fully powered city-ship was capable of). (SG1: "Unnatural Selection")
'''Hull'''
Asgard hyperdrives have routinely proven capable of crossing intergalactic distances in a matter of days, even hours, and are a necessity for the Tau'ri to continue their intergalactic endeavors.
Before their mass-suicide, the Asgard had developed a new alloy comprised of a combination of naquadah, trinium and carbon creating the strongest material that the Asgard knew of and used it to create the hull of the O'Neill-class vessel.
===='''Functions'''====
'''Hyperdrive'''
The precise speed of a vessel equipped with an Asgard hyperdrive appears to be directly proportionate to the ship's available power. The Prometheus needed months to travel between the Milky Way and Pegasus galaxies. However, the more advanced Daedalus routinely made the trip in about 18 days. The drive could be modified to allow the ship to travel faster, but it would risk burning out the drive. An Asgard vessel, or a Daedalus-class ship with a ZPM tied into its power systems, could make the trip in about 4 days. The Asgard O'Neill-class vessels were capable of travelling from the Ida galaxy to the Milky Way in only a few hours. Even without a ZPM or comparable power source backing them, these are some of the fastest hyperdrives known to exist, surpassed only by a fully-powered stardrive. (SG1: "Prometheus", "Prometheus Unbound") (ATL: "The Siege, Part 2", "Critical Mass", "Misbegotten")
The hyperdrives on the O'Neill-class were far superior to those installed on the outdated Bilskirnir-class ship, and quite possibly the fastest hyperdrives ever constructed. These hyperdrives proved capable of traveling between the Othalla and Milky Way galaxies in only a few hours, and towed the Prometheus back into Earth's orbit across 1,200 light-years in mere seconds. The Prometheus was later towed to the Othalla galaxy in less than a day (much slower than if the Asgard ship was traveling alone, but far faster than what any other known vessel. (SG1: "Unnatural Selection")
While in hyperspace the shields and weapons systems of a ship using an Asgard hyperdrive are offline, due to the fact that the full power of the vessel's generators is required. As a result, a ship using an Asgard hyperdrive can be destroyed if a nearby vessel in hyperspace self-destructs; however this occurrence is highly unlikely, as no other hyperdrive has been seen keeping equal pace with them. Asgard ships have the ability to tow other vessels in their hyperspace field, but this causes the total travel time of the journey to be lengthened exponentially (it is unknown if the hyperdrives equipped on Tau'ri vessels have the same capability). (ATL: "Unnatural Selection", "New Order, Part 1")
'''Shielding'''
===='''History'''====
The shields of the O'Neill-class were some of the most powerful ever designed, capable of withstanding multiple hits from both the central beam weapon of an Ori warship and its secondary pulse weapons, both of which were capable of destroying Ha'tak's in no more than a single or handful of hits, respectively. (SG1: "New Order, Part 2", "Camelot")
After having limited success with their own attempts at developing a working hyperdrive, the Tau'ri were first given Asgard hyperdrive technology as thanks for their help in fighting the Replicators. Asgard hyperdrives are now standard on all Tau'ri starships. However, Earth ships use considerably weaker power sources when compared to Asgard vessels, though shortly prior to their extinction the Asgard installed an advanced power core aboard the Odyssey. It is unclear whether this new power core actually improved the Odyssey's performance, as the ship was already using a ZPM at that point. (SG1: "Unending") (ATL: "Echoes")

==='''Asgard transporter'''===
''"I need a little help moving."''<br />'''—Cameron Mitchell'''
Asgard transporters, also known as beaming technology, are advanced transportation systems similar in both appearance and function to Ancient beam transporters that are manufactured and used extensively by the Asgard, Tau'ri and later the Goa'uld.
===='''Overview'''====
Any matter targeted by an Asgard transporter is encompassed in a bright light and broken down into its base atoms, which are then transported to a designated location and reassembled. Unlike Transportation rings, which require platforms at both the previous and intended location for the process to work, the object being transported by an Asgard transporter can be beamed to and from anywhere. Replicators are attracted to the energy given off by these transporters, and human-form Replicators are capable of making themselves resistant to the process. (SG1: "Small Victories", "New Order, Part 1")
Every Asgard ship is equipped with beaming technology, and is often used as a means of getting from ship to planet and vice verse in a short period of time. It has been frequently used by the Asgard to transport humans onto their ships, often with little to no warning. This technology is a great tactical advantage in combat situations, and also provides great usefulness in society. (SG1: "Fair Game", "Small Victories")
Besides individuals and small objects, Asgard transporters are capable of beaming large amounts of matter, from complete skyscrapers to entire fleets of ships. (SG1: "Thor's Chariot", "Ex Deus Machina")
It is possible for an Asgard transporter to dematerialize an object and send it by unknown means to another materialization device. One known example is Gairwyn Who has been transported from Cimmeria to Thor's ship. (SG1: "Thor's Chariot") Another possible example of such feat may have been demonstrated when Loki abducted Jack O'Neill and Thor arived via transporter to Loki's ship. (SG1: "Fragile Balance")
===='''History'''====
The first Tau'ri encounter with Asgard beaming technology occurred on the planet Cimmeria. Some time after SG-1 destroyed Thor's Hammer, which protected the planet and its population from the Goa'uld, Cimmeria was invaded by Heru'ur. After SG-1 traveled to the planet and informed Thor of the invasion, achieving first contact with the Asgard in the process, Thor quickly arrived and utilized the transporters aboard his ship to easily remove the Goa'uld forces. (SG1: "Thor's Chariot")
When the Asgard first allowed the Tau'ri access to their beaming technology, they placed a series of failsafes into the transporters to prevent the humans from using the technology offensively. Despite this, the Daedalus used its transporters to beam nuclear warheads onto several Wraith hive-ships (with begrudging help from an Asgard), destroying them. The Wraith, however, were able to develop jamming codes that prevented the transporters from obtaining a lock, making the transporters all but useless against the Wraith. (ATL: "The Siege, Part 3")
The Asgard Hermiod was able to use the beaming technology to remove a Goa'uld parasite from the body of Steven Caldwell, apparently without harming him although the calculations were said to be extremely complex to avoid beaming out a chunk of his brain as well. (ATL: "Critical Mass")
Anubis was able to steal beaming technology from the Asgard by probing Thor's mind, and employed the technology on a mass scale. Asgard transporters were later put to extensive use by Osiris and Ba'al, who obtained the technology from Anubis. (SG1: "Revelations", "Chimera", "Reckoning, Part 2")
Asgard transporters are also unable to work through shields. Both the Odyssey and the Korolev were unable to beam nuclear warheads onboard Ori motherships, although rings were able to get through fluctuations that these transporters could. The Odyssey was later able to rescue Daniel Jackson from an Ori mothership by beaming him out, however the shields were lowered at the time. Also, Colonel Carter had to lower another Ori ship's shields in order for the Odyssey to beam the team out of a dangerous situation. Also, the ship using the transporter has to lower its shields to transport a person onboard which leaves the ship vulnerable for a few moments which is dangerous, especially in battle.
Also, if a person locked onto grabs another person when transported, the other person is transported too. When Daniel Jackson was beamed aboard the Odyssey from an Ori mothership, he sensed the beam and grabbed Vala Mal Doran who was transported with him as well despite not being locked onto.
The most advanced beaming technology the Asgard ever developed was installed on the Odyssey shortly before the Asgard race became extinct, and could be modified to create matter from energy and other matter. These transporters allowed for a limitless supply of food, air, and other equipment so long as power was available; however the transporters did not appear to be capable of creating anything as complicated as ZPMs or Asgard power sources, but it was capable of creating a Replicator, a highly advanced and complicated piece of technology. The Replicator was also programmed with all the knowledge of the Odyssey. (SG1: "Unending", "The Ark of Truth")
The Asgard were capable of using the transporter array against armies on a planet, dematerialize them and removing them as a threat. (SG1: "Thor's Chariot")
==='''Asgard Sensors'''===
Asgard sensors are highly advanced. They can scan through Goa'uld shields and pinpoint life signs from far away, and are also what allows their beaming technology to lock on to an object so accurately. They are also capable of distinguishing between jaffa and human lifesigns. A version of this technology was installed on the Earth ships of the Daedalus-class.
==='''Asgard stones'''===
''"The information you will need is contained within the stones." '''''—Thor'''
Asgard stones are devices which the Asgard use to interact with their technology. Functioning in a manner similar to control crystals, they contain information which must be placed in a specific location on a console. When that happens, the technology will activate. Some stones also function specifically as communication devices. (SG1: "Fair Game", "Enemies", "Red Sky", "Revelations", "Fragile Balance")
Asgard stones are used by not only the Asgard, but the Tau'ri as well, although this is only when using Asgard devices. Samantha Carter activated a time-dilation field around the Odyssey by using the Asgard stones on a console. It is shown that the technology is activated by pressing down on the Asgard stone. Also, Asgard stones aboard the Odyssey seem to be powered by the Asgard power core. These stones have also been seen aboard the Phoenix and Daedalus, but are likely aboard all other Daedalus-class ships as well. (SG1: "Unending") (ATL: "The Last Man")
==='''Explosion Suppression System'''===
Asgard ships possess a system of unknown nature (since it was mentioned as a problem, but never seen in action), that prevents explosions from occurring on ship. As a result many of the tactics used against Goa'uld ships from the inside, by less advanced races (grenades, C4 and nuclear devices), would be rendered useless on Asgard ships. This technology presumably is not limited to their space fleet, and is probably fairly ubiquitous throughout Asgard facilities. (SG1: "Nemesis")
=='''Defenses'''==
The shields of the O'Neill-class were some of the most powerful ever designed, capable of withstanding multiple hits from both the central beam weapon of an Ori mothership and its secondary pulse weapons, both of which were capable of destroying Ha'taks in no more than a single or handful of hits, respectively. (SG1: "New Order, Part 2", "Camelot")
==='''Shields'''===
Asgard shields are the primary defensive technology used by Asgard and Tau'ri spaceships, and are among the most advanced shields known to exist. The technology was shared by the Asgard with the Tau'ri in thanks for their contributions in defeating the Replicators, giving Tau'ri ships a great advantage over the other space-faring races of the universe
===='''Functions'''====
Asgard shields create an elliptical "bubble" around the spaceship they are equipped to, which absorbs and diffuses the energy from weapons fire. The shield matrix will gradually degrade under sustained fire (rather quickly under sustained bombardment or if the attack is of sufficient force), resulting in more and more energy from attacks bleeding through and causing damage to the ship. Although additional energy can be allocated to the shield matrix to reinforce it, the only way for a ship to ultimately survive a continued assault is to withdraw and give the generators time to recharge and replenish the matrix. (SG1: "The Siege, Part 3", "No Man's Land")
Asgard shields far outstrip the much more primitive Goa'uld shields in effectiveness. Despite this, they become considerably less effective when facing foes of a comparable technological level. The exact strength of an Asgard shield, like most Asgard technology, appears to be relative to the amount of power channeled into them, meaning the shields on Asgard ships are much more powerful than those of Tau'ri spaceships unless a ZPM or equivalent power source is interfaced, which renders them even more powerful than the shields featured on Asgard vessels. The most advanced shields ever developed by the Asgard were equipped on the Odyssey before they committed mass suicide, allowing the ship to survive sustained fire from the central weapons of multiple Ori motherships for several minutes, a feat currently unmatched by the shield technology of other races. (SG1: "Unending", "Ark of Truth")
Even without a ZPM backing them Asgard shields are capable of directly resisting drone weapons; however Todd remarked that it would only take one of Atlantis's drones to disable the Daedalus' hyperdrive, implying that the drones on Atlantis are somehow able to penetrate Asgard shields without much resistance (although he could have been underestimating the shield's capabilities or he may not had sufficient control of systems to raise them or he may have assumed the atlantis expedition knew enough about the Asgard shields to get a drone to bypass them completely ). (ATL: "Be All My Sins Remember'd", "The Lost Tribe")
=='''Weapons'''==
The O'Neill-class was armed with 4 powerful energy weapons; two of which were visible on both of the ships "wings", with two more at the bow of the ship capable of retracting into the hull. Designed to penetrate the shielding systems of both Replicator ships and Anubis' upgraded Goa'uld shields, the ion bolts fired by these weapons were capable of refracting to bypass a shield and strike a target multiple times. These cannons were the only known energy weapons capable of destroying Replicator blocks (which have traditionally been impervious to energy weapons) through sheer kinetic force, and were also shown to be powerful enough to counteract the upgraded shields on Anubis' Ha'tak. (SG1: "Revelations", "New Order, Part 2"
==='''Ion Guns'''===
''"I will need the weapon back once your work here is completed. It is, after all, only on loan to you, temporarily."''<br />'''—Kvasir'''
Ion guns were the primary weapons used by vessels of the Asgard fleet.
While these weapons were significantly superior to traditional Goa'uld weapons and shields, lesser forms of Asgard weaponry are inferior to Ancient shields, Anubis was able to upgrade Goa'uld shields using Ancient knowledge he obtained as a result of his ascension, rendering Asgard weapons considerably less effective. Ori motherships proved similarly capable of withstanding weapons fire from an Asgard O'Neill-class ship. These weapons have, however, proven quite effective against Replicator ships which have just emerged from hyperspace, before their shields could be raised. (SG1: "Revelations", "New Order, Part 1", "Camelot")
===='''History'''====
The technology used in these weapons was a closely guarded secret by the Asgard as they declined to equip any Earth ship, though the Asgard scientist Kvasir also allowed the SGC to borrow an energy weapon after a string of alternate SG-1s began coming through the Stargate from parallel universes, but only after they promised to return it. The borrowed energy weapon was powerful enough to pierce quantum realities. (SG1: "Ripple Effect") These weapons were later rendered obsolete by the Asgard plasma beam weapon which is the weapon the Odyssey was equipped with when the Asgard upgraded the ship with weapons. Unlike the ion gun, the beam weapons were able to penetrate even the most powerful shields, including those of Ori motherships and Aurora-class warships although they were ineffective against the ZPM powered Hive Ship.
