Species: Ukian
Home Planet: Ukio

Ukians are known as some of the most efficient farmers and horticulturists in the galaxy. They are also among one of the gentlest species in existence. The Ukians are hairless, bipedal humanoids with green skin and thin red eyes, which narrow to slits. They are humanoid, but to the average human, Ukians appear to have been incorrectly "assembled"; they appear gangly and awkward. Their slight build hides impressive strength. The Ukian people are firmly rooted in their agrarian traditions. Few Ukians ever leave their homeworld and the vast majority of these aliens pursue careers in agriculture. Most Ukians spend their time cultivating and organizing their harvest, and most have large farming complexes directed by the Ukian Farming Bureau. The planet itself is run by the Ukian Overliege, a selected office with a term of 10 years. The Overliege's responsibilities include finding ways of improving the total agricultural production of the planet, as well as determining the crops and production output of each community. The Ukian with the most productive harvest for the previous 10 year period is offered the position. Ukians are a pragmatic species and share a cultural aversion to "the impossible"; if events are far removed from standard daily experience, Ukians become very agitated and frightened. It is this cultural "fear of the impossible" that Grand Admiral Thrawn exploited to capture Ukio with its shield generators intact.

Biology & Appearance:
The Ukians were tall, thin bipeds, with hairless pink or green skin. They had wide, bright eyes which narrowed to slits on each side. Though lanky and clumsy-looking, the Ukians were actually quite strong.

Society & Culture:
The Ukians were well known as some of the finest farmers and horticulturists in the galaxy. Their society and culture revolved primarily around agrarian pursuits. Most Ukians spent the majority of their time cultivating and organizing their harvests. Even individual Ukians would own sprawling farming complexes. The farming on Ukio was directly overseen by the Ukian Farming Bureau. The entire planet was run by an Overliege, and other Lieges worked beneath him. The Overliege was an elected official who served a term of ten years. At the end of the ten-year period, the Ukian with the most productive harvest on the planet was offered the position of Overliege. His duties consisted of improving the total agricultural output of the planet, and well as determining which crops each community would be responsible for. Ukians greatly feared anything they deemed to be "impossible". Any completely unforeseen or bizarre event would cause them to become agitated and frightened. Off-worlders such as business executives or enemy commanders would use this fear against the Ukians, causing them to be at a disadvantage. Few Ukians ever left their homeworld, but those that did most often pursued a career in agriculture.

History:
In 22 BBY, the Republic, knowing the importance of Ukio to the efforts of the Clone Wars, sent Jedi Masters Keelyvine Reus and Kit Fisto, along with Padawan Tyzen Xebec, to ensure the safety and security of the planet. While Xebec and Clone Commander Ganch inspected the planet's shield defenses, the Confederacy of Independent Systems launched an attack on the planet, deploying modified Seismic tanks. The tanks hovered above the planet's shields and let loose a cloud of soil from Moorja, which blotted out the sun and threatened to destroy the Ukian's harvest. In 9 ABY, Grand Admiral Thrawn studied Ukian art and was able to determine the Ukian's fear of surprise and the unknown. As he predicted, they were quick to surrender after his cloaking device attack.

Attribute Dice: 12D
DEXTERITY 1D/3D
KNOWLEDGE 1D/4D+1
MECHANICAL 2D/4D
PERCEPTION 1D/4D
STRENGTH 3D/4D
TECHNICAL 1D/3D+1

Special Abilities:
Agriculture: All Ukians receive a +2D bonus to their agriculture (a Knowledge skill) rolls.

Story Factors:
Fear of the Impossible: All Ukians become very agitated when presented with a situation they believe is impossible.

Move: 5/11
Size: 1.6-2 meters tall
Source: Wookieepedia (For the Ukian Description)
