Name: Cota'Vozum "Cota"
Type: Ship’s Gunner
Species: Sangheili
Height: 7'10" (2.4m)
Weight: 310# (140kg)
Age: 25 (40)
Gender: Male Physical Description: I have a predatory look, reminiscent of a theropod or other predatory lizard. I’m tetra dactyl (4 fingers/toes per limb), and possess two thumbs on each of my symmetrical hands. I’m also digitigrade (walk on my toes). With an extra joint in each of my powerful legs. I'm also quite a jumper. My skin is dark grey and scaly, and my eyes are blue. I have a quadruple-hinged jaw, with an upper jaw and four mandible-like lips. I tend to talk with my bottom two mandibles closed, to not upset the binary-jawed people that seem to find it disturbing. I like to wear the combination of purple, brown, blue, and grey clothes and armor. I claim that I’m considered frail but quick among my people, but I’m taller, stronger, and faster than most humans. I'm 7’10” and 310#. My people also age roughly half as fast as the rest of the galaxy, so I'm much older than my maturity belies. Background: My people are deeply religious warriors and I was a believer in their once great cause, but recently they seem to have taken a direction that can only end in discord and ultimately the loss of our society. I was sent on one destructive mission after another, with no regard for our lives or those we were attacking, and eventually I became disillusioned with our leadership. One day I had had enough and stole a Seraph ship mid-mission and fled their corner of the galaxy to follow my own spiritual compass. Eventually I pressed my luck one too many times. After using my little ship far beyond its intended purpose, and lacking the parts and know-how to fix or properly fly it, I lost control and became stuck in a planetary gravity well and crashed the it. No one noticed my wreckage, as I wasn’t the only one crashing, with the tail end of a large-scale battle just finishing. The people that found me were friendly and identified themselves as Jedi. They taught me their language and seemed to intuit my great value for life and my capabilities in combat. I was even instructed on the idea of the Force, and it seems to hold true with my own spiritual compass. These Jedi even sought to have me taken in and further trained in Its ways, but they were overruled by their superiors, with the explanation that I was too old and that they had other important uses for me. I soon found myself getting combat medical training, which I finished in record time, but my interests fell elsewhere. My friends new Jedi friends anticipated this and introduced me to people that could help me find work, and I frequently found myself on dangerous rescue missions. I even did a stint with the Space Rescue Corps. With my own people I wasn't given the opportunity to do anything other than combat. Since I've left them I've become fascinated by the inner workings of technology, and it turns out that I have quite a knack for it. I was raised into a life of combat, worship, and espionage and was never afforded a look into how my species technology works. Unfortunately the only bit of tech that I still possess from home is my armor, which has some technical problems that I still can’t get my head around. I remember all of my home tech’s form and function, but lack any knowledge of its inner workings, which I'd like to come to understand and eventually master. With my unusual aptitude with all things mechanical I hope to design and make all of my own things. For whatever reason I'm fascinated by walkers and I think I can design a faster more useful version, especially after seeing these new AT-AT the Empire are fielding. Within my circle of friends I've been relegated to the role mechanic and technician, in addition to my normal combat duties which is more than fine with me. The groups I’ve worked with have come and gone, and I’ve made a name for myself in the interim. I’ve frequently helped the Jedi over the years and seemed to constantly be attached as a retainer for one of their young apprentices, Deschain, who was present when they found me. We’ve become close friends over the years. I stayed very busy through the clone wars and was very surprised with the dissolution of the Republic, and afterwards, the issue of Order 66. I wasn’t able to get to the Jedi in time to save them, but I did find Deschain and rescued him. I’ve come to respect the Jedi and their ideals more than my own people, and anyone who’s ordered their extermination has become my enemy. Deschain and I frequently practice our Blaster skills together, and I hope I never have to deal with his supernatural skills with lobbing ions. Deschain and I hired on some additional help a couple of years ago, a giant of a man named Ragnar. He’s an odd one obsessed with hunting, and seems quite competent in it. In some ways he would fit in with my people far more than he knows. I’ve since learned that he follows the ideals of the Force and even has control over its powers like Deschain. As long as he doesn’t tip the scale too strongly one way or the other I won’t have a problem with him. For whatever reason this part of the galaxy has been in a seemingly constant conflict within the followers of the Force, with both sides being completely unhinged with the way they follow this all encompassing power, but what do I know - I only have an armchair understanding of the Force. Ragnar seems to find this balance and I feel that he’s worthy of my trust and friendship. In the past our pilots always ended up sneaking out while at port, probably from the combination of a significant amount of strange aliens, supernatural fighting abilities, and the Empires desire to find us. The last time our hired help fled we found ourselves stuck in port trying to find a pilot-for-hire, when it turned out that pilot turned us in for a small bounty on parking tickets. Our ship was seized out from under us and sold for scrap. Luckily there was an auction going on where we found a suitable replacement. We bought our current ship there and I was starting to fix it up when Deschain wandered in with a Mandalorian of all things, named Kasch. Kasch smelled of booze and looked absolutely pitiful. He had a tale about Deschain saving his life, and claimed he owed his life to him and intended to repay that debt. He’s turned out to be a competent pilot, if somewhat foul. I keep the ship in working order and spend a considerable time at the turrets while Kasch keeps us from getting blasted out of the sky. He’s been with us ever since and we’ve never had a problem with him, even though he has strong pirate leanings. Due to my extensive relationship with the Jedi the Empire has trumped up some charges and I'm wanted for questioning. So far I haven't run into anything I couldn't handle, which is good, because if I'm ever captured I'm a horrible liar. Luckily I have some very capable friends. I’ve gotten into many a conflict with the Empire, and they hold no sway over me. I still intend to keep the Jedi ideals alive and to strike the Empire down if possible. Personality: Inquisitive, brave, straightforward, and helpful. Always looks for ways to work smarter & harder, and never leaves friends behind.
